Are we who you were looking for? Mission, Philosophy & ObjectivesOur Mission at Saint Rose CenterIs to offer to adults with developmental disabilities a program that stresses independence and community involvement. We fulfill that mission by encouraging individuals to strive for their highest potential. To that end, we support individuals to be active and valued participants in community life; have healthy relationships with family, friends, and neighbors; make informed choices about life patterns; develop and exercise competencies; and strive for self-sufficiency and personal security. The Center welcomes adults with developmental disabilities regardless of race, color, ethnic background, religion or other discriminatory status. PhilosophyCreate a world where an individual will be able to feel at home; where they can form relationships; where they can choose to pray to their God; expand their knowledge; and enjoy creation and community. ObjectivesTo provide a secure, structured atmosphere giving each individual the opportunity to develop to the full extent of her or his capacity in the least restrictive environment, thus insuring a maximum dignity, usefulness, and happiness. We Believe...We believe that the individuals at Saint Rose Center are members of the community. The program is designed to provide further guidance and choices to adults with developmental disabilities. The Whole PersonWe need to help individuals with developmental disabilities acquire skills they need to independently function in a complex world. Continuing the path to becoming more able, each of us must concern ourselves with the whole person -- intellectually, emotionally, physically, economically, civically, as well as spiritually through growth and development. Man is a social being; living most of his time in contact with others. Tolerance, charity, respect for beliefs and the "laws" of society must be specifically taught with practical application in relationship to family, friends and neighbors. We want to help the individuals we care for develop a well-adjusted personality which will help her or him achieve their goals. The importance of this aim is best seen when the individual with a disability completes formal education and attempts to earn their own living. Studies show that persons are more likely to lose their job because of personality traits rather than through lack of skill. The person who has been shown emotional control and moral habits, such as courtesy, patience, and loyalty will be an individual equipped for better social living. The conscious/aware capacity of individuals ought to be developed to its maximum. Individuals with disabilities can become as self-sufficient as possible -- be it to a live with family, group home, or apartment in the community Saint Rose Center has achieved recognition from CARF for being one of the top organizations (3%) internationally in our field of day training for adults with developmental disabilities.
